NASA/UWHS Climate Science

Funded by a NASA Global Climate Change Education grant, the UW Program on Climate Change (UW PCC) is partnering with school districts across Washington State to develop and implement a dual credit climate science course to be offered to high school students through the UW in the High School (UWHS) program.  We have recruited 12 high school teachers and 8 graduate students to be involved in the project.

A mention of this project can be found in UW Today

MPOWIR: Mentoring Women Physical Oceanographers

I have been involved in MPOWIR (Mentoring Physical Oceanography Women to Increase Retention) since its inception. I wrote a guest blog post on how to write proposal and paper reviews on the MPOWIR blog. I also had three minutes of fame when I spoke live on the radio about gender disparities in faculty in oceanography.

Check out my recent paper in Nature Geoscience in women in physical oceanography, plus a comment and a reply.

Also, an article appeared in UW Today on the topic.
